How to Safely Install & Manage Sims 4 Custom Content Clothing
Custom content (CC) clothing can make your Sims look amazing, but it’s important to install and manage it safely.
This guide walks you through downloading, organizing, and troubleshooting Sims 4 clothing CC so your game stays smooth and stable.
1. Download clothing CC from trusted creators
- Only download from well-known creators or reputable Sims 4 CC blogs.
- Avoid sites that look spammy, have aggressive pop-ups, or force strange installers.
- Read the creator’s notes to check if packs or specific expansions are required.
2. Extract files correctly
- Most CC comes in .zip or .rar files.
- Use a program like WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract them.
- Look for .package files — those are what go in your Mods folder.
3. Add CC clothing to your Mods folder
- Go to your Mods folder:
Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods - Create subfolders like CAS > Clothing > Tops, Bottoms, Full Body, etc.
- Place the .package files into the correct subfolder.
4. Enable mods and CC in-game
- Open The Sims 4 and go to Game Options > Other.
- Make sure Enable Custom Content and Mods is checked.
- Also enable Script Mods Allowed if you use any script-based CC.
- Restart the game for the changes to apply.
5. Organize and track your CC clothing
- Use clear folder names like CreatorName – Dresses or MaxisMatch – Everyday.
- Keep a simple text file or spreadsheet with links, creators, and notes.
- Avoid dumping everything into one huge Mods folder — it makes troubleshooting harder.
6. Remove broken or duplicate CC
- If clothing shows up as missing textures, glitches, or question marks, remove that file.
- Delete CC you no longer use to keep your game loading faster.
- After big game updates, check creators for “updated” versions of your favorite CC.
By downloading from trusted sources, keeping your Mods folder organized, and regularly cleaning out broken files,
you can safely enjoy a huge wardrobe of custom clothing for your Sims without breaking your game.
